The work of Rafel Bestard
Rafel Bestard (Palma de Mallorca 1967) explains that his creative process is based on sessions in his studio, where he promotes a performance with real figures. The action allows him to work on a photographic session, from which he selects the photos that will be later painted into the canvas.

Bestard is a figurative painter who assumes all the technical knowledge that the evolution of art history has offered to artists. He does not reject knowledge, but rather claims it and practices a dreamlike realism that shuns decorativeness and proposes reflection.
The objective of this montage is to revive the emotions and feelings generated by the human relationship and, it makes a lot of sense that it does so through the relationship between two girls. Bestard directs the action to seek to bring out the human feelings that living together entails and believes that women express it more spontaneously and more intensely.
We are aware of the repression of feminism in various cultures and places in our world. With the sadness that the current situation of women in Afghanistan causes us, we cannot forget the centuries of repression and contempt that our culture still carries. This exhibition will surely help us to overcome it.
Finally, I like to recognize the Mediterranean spirit that surrounds his work. The light is present and also a little bit of humor and irony. His will to transcendence has led him to use English as a language. My generation, coming from a French-speaking education, fortunately we have the google translator.
